I have great news for all my happy bookers!!! All of our gently read trade size and hard cover books now sell for one flat price of $7.00 plus tax. This is a huge savings!! Not only that, but, while supplies last we are offering "New Moon" by Stephenie Meyer for $5.00 as an inventory reduction.

I have been reading the Body Farn novels by Jefferson Bass. If you are a fan of Patricia Cornwell you will love these thriller mysteries. They are about a forensic anthropologist named Bill Brockton and involve the study of bones to discover how a murder happened. Fascinating reading. A slight touch of gore, so not recommended for the weak of heart.
Carved in Bone - 1st in series
Flesh and Bone - 2nd in series
Devil's Bones - 3rd in series
Bones of Betrayal - 4th in series

I just finished reading "The Lace Reader" by Brunonia Barry. This is far removed from my usual reads of mystery thrillers, but a mystery it still is, and a really great 1st novel by this local author. She lives in Salem, Mass., and this is where this mystical story takes place. Its about a family of psychic women who can read the future in lace patterns. It has a stunning ending and twists and turns all along the way. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. It is about 4 years old, originally published in 2006, but I had just heard about it from a customer and suddenly I found myself having to read this book.

I have several of the books which are on Waltham's summer reading list for High School and elementary schools. The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbra Kingsolver,1984 by George Orwell(1copy), The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Blessings by Anna Quindlan. Titles by E B White, The Whipping Boy by Fleichman, Hoot by Hiaasen, Sarah Plain and Tall.

Michael  Connelly's 9 Dragons,Kathryn Stockett's The Help, Little Bee by Chris Cleave,Breaking Dawn in trade paperback by  Stephanie Meyer also all her other books in the Twilight series. That Old Cape Magic by Richard Russo,Three Weeks with My Brother by Nicholas Sparks. We also have all the True Blood novels.

I did finish 2 of Robert Gregory Browne's books since I last blogged. I had previoussly read his debut novel "Kiss Her Goodbye" and just finished reading "Kill Her Again" which was a little bit about reincarnation and "Whisper in the Dark"also about reincarnation. This author has a life long fascination with near death experience and reincarnation. They were all great thrill reads and I will look forward to his next one. These are not a series, they are stand alone books

In The Dark 07/20/2010

I know you were waiting to find out what I read next after Swimsuit. Just finished "In The Dark" by Brian Freeman. You might remember this author who also wrote Immoral, Stripped, and Stalked. This guy has it all going on. Suspense right up until the very last page. I loved it, put it on our spinner, and it was sold right away.  Now I'm reading something a little lighter, but still a mystery, of course, its by Jon Loomis. You might say WHO??? I read quite a bit of not the usual suspects. He is a relative unknown, but worth reading if you can find him. Currently reading Mating Season, read previously High Season. Both are set in Provincetown MA. Thats a beach read for me.

Swimsuit review 07/16/2010

I finished reading Swimsuit by one of my favs, James Patterson. He never dissappoints me. The murders and they mystery surrounding them once again made me turn the pages as fast as I could. But when it came to the end, it was a serial killer who was found out, but is he really dead? It seems like it on the surface, but if you paid attention to all the clues, he could resurface, maybe in another book, James? It was a great read either way
